MILITARY + COMMERCIAL TESTING

MEDIUM WEIGHT SHOCK TEST MACHINE

Used to test materials per MIL-S-901, which covers shock testing requirements for shipboard machinery, equipment, systems and structures. Maximum weight: 7,400 pounds. U.S. Navy Approved: NAVSEAINST 9491.1D.

COMMERCIAL MARINE TEST: ASTM F2877, Standard Test Method for Shock Testing of Structural Insulation of A-Class Divisions Constructed of Steel or Aluminum.

NON-COMBUSTIBILITY TEST APPARATUS

Used to test materials per 46 CFR 164.009, Noncombustible Materials for Merchant Vessels, and International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures (IMO FTP Code), 2010, Part 1, Non-Combustibility Test.

At Trident, we are an approved NAVSEA testing lab performing shock analysis using a medium-weight shock test machine. Our employees combine 80 years of technical competencies in testing marine products. In 1967 we were the first non-military test facility to provide shock testing for the U.S. Navy, and have performed more than 4,000 shock qualifying and research and development tests since then.

Our research and development efforts are widely known and highly respected. Working closely with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard, it is our goal to develop better materials and installation techniques that improve performance and reduce cost. We are proud to have successfully completed a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant to develop new lightweight, low-cost fire-barrier systems for Navy ships.

SCREENING TESTS CONDUCTED INCLUDE:

• Medium-weight shock testing per MIL-S-901D

• Non-combustibility testing per IMO FTP Code Part I

• Surface flammability testing per IMO FTP Code Part 5

• Vibration testing per MIL-STD-167

• Load testing per MIL-PRF-32038

• Instrumentation to conduct acceleration analysis for items shock-tested

IMO FLAMMABILITY TEST APPARATUS, Used to test surface materials and primary deck coverings per International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures (IMO FTP Code), 2010, Part 5, Test for Surface Flammability.
